Julie can be relied upon to deliver engaging practical sessions full of modern and relevant ideas.
I'm Julie Keyes, and I founded The Educational Consultant in 2017. After 15 years of teaching across a variety of age ranges and settings, I wanted to use my vast experience to advise others on ways in which they can progress within their educational environments.
Having spent more than 10 years teaching in Preparatory Schools, both in the UK and internationally, and holding different senior leadership roles within these schools, my true specialism lies in Prep School education. I enjoy helping schools drive improvement throughout their school, whether it's through coaching teachers and senior leaders, planning and delivering bespoke staff training packages, or advising on curriculum development and planning.
I also work with businesses and companies who operate within schools, colleges, and universities, providing the insight needed to succeed within the sphere in which they operate.
A word from the founder...
A bit of what we do... some case studies of our work
Large Preparatory School in Kent, UK
The Educational Consultant has been working with one of the largest Prep Schools in the UK, helping them to drive forward their innovative approaches to teaching and learning. A large focus has been establishing the processes for remote learning and integrating high-quality methods for learning online. We have provided whole staff training to introduce teachers and school leaders to the principles of successfully delivering lessons online. The Educational Consultant has provided 1:1 coaching sessions to guide teachers through this new way of working and has offered advice and support to maximise the success of delivering virtual lessons. We have ensured schools are aware of the safeguarding issues related to learning online and helped them to protect everyone taking part in virtual learning.
School Design Company, London
The Educational Consultant has a long-standing working relationship with this multinational school design company. Providing consultancy in a variety of forms, we have helped to generate new leads, developed lasting partnerships with schools, and advised on best practice when dealing with educational matters. The Educational Consultant has attended trade shows and conferences on behalf of this company, liaising with headteachers and school leaders to provide knowledgable insight to this design companies offering. We visit schools to complete design audits, using our educational expertise to determine exactly what schools are seeking from a refit and making informed suggestions for renovation projects. The Educational Consultant also produces content and copywriting for this company to use in their marketing material and online output, providing expert insight into current trends and relevant topics.
The Educational Consultant is currently employed by a leading international school to provide coaching and mentoring for its leadership staff. Delivering guidance and counsel to key members of the school team, the coaching sessions allow a sounding board for new ideas, as well as a chance to seek advice on how to positively implement propositions and proposals. Weekly coaching sessions delivered via video conferencing, over a period of several months, allow a professional relationship to blossom and give the coachee time to implement new strategies and analyse their impact. These coaching sessions prove invaluable and provide a non-threatening platform for school leadership staff to develop new ideas in a safe space. Not only working with members of senior management, The Educational Consultant mentors teaching and support staff across the school body, helping all involved in the children's education to be the best that they can be.
